A special group of kids must save the world with — what else? — HOCKEY!
There are people out there, nasty mean greedy people, who want to rule the Earth. People such as evil scientist (and former mediocre goalie) Clarence Crosscheck. Only one thing is stopping them . . . hockey.
This hilarious new high-action series from Kevin Sylvester pits six ordinary kids with super hockey skills against the forces of evil — specifically, the nefarious wannabe genius, Clarence Crosscheck.
In The Puck Drops Here, Jenny, Benny, Mo, Starlight, DJ and Karl need to outmaneuver Crosscheck and his army of mammoth mutant ice squids before Crosscheck turns his giant freeze ray on the world. The entire planet is at risk! Get ready for high-stakes ice battles, non-stop hijinks and never-before-seen hockey action (it’s kids vs squids)!
With fast-paced text and illustrations throughout, this series will grip sports fans and funny story lovers alike. Will the kids win the day? You’ll have to read the books to find out.
If books were fireworks, this series would suffice for a entire holiday weekend. It's got the energy of many firecrackers, and is just the ticket for hyper young hockey fans with vivid imaginations and no interest in sitting still.
A cross between a novel and graphic novel, The Puck Drops Here uses CAPITAL LETTERS and boldface type to insert exuberance into the text. Not that the book needs any more excitement than the story line already provides. In fact, if readers received one penny for every exclamation mark in the book, they'd be pretty well off by THE END.
It features six diverse hockey players (including one in a wheelchair) facing off with giant angry ice squids on a rink in a TOP SECRET underground bunker. The squids, of course, are controlled by an evil scientist who is a threat to global peace. But the stakes are even higher than that: If the kids win, the squids get put back in cages. If the children lose, the squids get to eat them. Super powers are involved. And naturally, there's also a puck robot involved in this wacky, goofy, crazy, fast-paced story. Better yet, there's a sequel. What, your juvenile hockey nut doesn't like to read books? Wrong. This series will turn anyone around.
Rink 53: It was normally covered in ice. But today, it was filled with water. Crosscheck had turned off the refrigeration and let the ice melt. WHY? He had a WICKED PLAN to refreeze the rink…But not just the rink. So. Much. More. Because – “Once I fire this ray the water will refreeze. BUT it won’t stop there. That super-frozen water will then free everything it touches, and so on and so on... It will tear across the globe, turning the entire Earth into one block of ice. HaHaHaHaHaHa!!!!!
