Playson has promoted Cosmin Tanase to the permanent role of Head of Compliance following his successful interim tenure.

The appointment was confirmed on Oct. 7, 2026, ending an interim period during which Tanase oversaw Playson’s PAGCOR approval in the Philippines and supported its push into Alberta’s newly regulated market.

“Cosmin has proven himself as a strong leader, taking the reins shortly after Playson received PAGCOR approval and helping to shape our Alberta market entry strategy,” said Vsevolod Lapin, Deputy CEO at Playson.

Tanase assumed the interim role at an important time for the company’s operations, following its recent Philippines market approval and an ongoing licensing application in Alberta.

He brings more than 20 years of legal experience to the position, including almost four years in the iGaming industry, during which he has helped shape the compliance functions of a number of leading providers.

Since joining Playson in 2024, Tanase has played a central part in maintaining business continuity across multiple regulated markets while overseeing a broad range of critical compliance activities.

“The interim period has been hugely rewarding, giving me the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the business and contribute to some important regulatory priorities,” Tanase said.

He has delivered against key milestones, including overseeing certifications, game approvals and regulatory submissions.

He has also supported new market entries, such as Alberta and the Philippines, strengthened monitoring processes and driven improvements across a number of key operational areas.

Alberta’s regulated iGaming market opened on July 13, 2026, becoming Canada’s second province to allow privately licensed online casino operators after Ontario, which launched in April 2022.

The Philippines entry was confirmed earlier, when PAGCOR granted Playson approval to distribute its games in the regulated Philippine market on May 26, 2026.

That approval was secured in cooperation with aggregation partner Light & Wonder and required no significant infrastructure changes to Playson’s existing platform.

Tanase’s appointment to the permanent Head of Compliance role reflects his strong ownership and cross-functional leadership skills.

As Playson continues to expand across regulated markets, strong compliance remains essential to supporting that growth, and Tanase will play a key role in ensuring the business continues to grow safely and sustainably.

The appointment is the second senior people move at Playson in under three months, following the promotion of Denys Koshel to VP of Commercial Partnerships in August 2026.

Playson is a Malta-headquartered iGaming content supplier founded in 2012, specialising in online slot development with a portfolio centred on Hold and Win, free spins, and jackpot mechanics.

The company distributes content across 29 regulated markets through more than 200 operator partners, with aggregation partnerships including Light & Wonder and Relax Gaming.

It holds a licence from the UK Gambling Commission and a recognition notice from the Malta Gaming Authority, alongside authorisations in additional regulated jurisdictions.
